One of world's largest and oldest international organizations, the
International Telecommunication Union (ITU) was established in 1865 to
manage the first international telegraph networks. Throughout it's
history, the ITU has expanded to cover voice telephony, radio
communications, communications satellites, and, most recently, the
technological advances of a telecommunications-based information age.
Primary standardization sectors cover Telecommunications (ITU-T) and
Radiocommunications (ITU-R). Membership includes most of the world's
countries and over 650 private members from telecommunication,
broadcasting and information technology. Today's ITU works to ensure
that the latest technological advances are integrated into the
telecommunication networks of countries around the world
